DOWNING STREET,

Dear Mr.Widdows,
With reference to your letter 100/H/9377
(S.D.2) of 22nd November and our reply of 8th Decembe:
I should rather like to know exactly what the status
of "honorary cadets" at the Royal Military College is
and what are the rules regulating their admission -
I cannot trace any official correspondence with War
Office relative to the admission of Ho Tung to the
College.
As regards this individual I should have bee:
inclined to put the case against his being given in-
struction in the use of tanks rather more strongly
than our official letter did. I think he is just the
sort of man who might develope into a War Lord on his
return to China.
Yours very truly,
A.E. WIDDOWS, ESQ, C.B.
